The drivers' union in Bor town has advised against night travel on the Bor-Juba Road following an ambush involving two vehicles near Mogeri earlier this week.
On Tuesday evening, public service vehicles en route from Juba to Bor were fired upon by unidentified gunmen.
The passengers and the drivers escaped unharmed, but the suspected criminals sprayed the vehicles with bullets.
However, Deng Jool Deng , the chairperson of the drivers' union in Bor expresses concern that nighttime vehicle movements may incite criminal activity.
"We have repeatedly informed people, yet some individuals continue to insist on traveling at night," Deng stated to Mingkaman FM.
“We reiterate our advice to travelers to stop leaving Bor or Juba after 3 p.m. The evening hours encourage criminals to attack and loot vehicles. It's not just about business; it's about lives.
Early this year, an attack on a vehicle occurred in the same location during the evening hours, seriously injuring a youth leader's head and striking another in the shoulder.
However, no one has yet faced justice for the crime.
