The Vice President for the Economic Cluster has approved a proposed national budget of 11.335 trillion South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) for the 2026/2027 fiscal year and forwarded it to the Council of Ministers before its submission to Parliament.
The approval came during an Economic Cluster meeting chaired
by Vice President Prof. James Wani Igga in Juba on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Kuol Daniel Ayulo, Minister of Finance
and Planning, presented the Resource Envelope for Fiscal Year 2026/2027 under
the theme “Building Resilience and Prosperous Sustainable Peace.”
Addressing reporters after the meeting, Lily Albino Akol, Economic
Cluster's spokesperson and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, confirmed
that the Cluster had endorsed the proposed budget.
“Hon. Akol also noted that the budget mainly focuses on
investment in agriculture to boost food security, as well as the mining and
livestock sectors,” Cluster’s official Facebook page stated.
Following consideration by the Council of Ministers, the
budget will be presented to lawmakers for deliberation and enactment before the
start of the new fiscal year.
South Sudan's fiscal year begins on July 1 and ends on June
30.
