The Ministry of Trade and Industry has launched the Competition and Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) to improve market regulation and protect consumers across South Sudan.

The CCPA will operate as an independent body responsible for promoting fair competition, preventing monopolies and unfair trade practices, ensuring product safety, promoting fair pricing, and protecting consumer rights.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said the establishment of the authority demonstrates the government’s commitment to building a transparent and competitive marketplace that protects both businesses and consumers.

The authority was launched by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Labanya Margaret Mathya, during a ceremony attended by government officials, regulatory institutions, international organizations, private sector representatives, and development partners.
