A man reportedly took his own life after he accidently shot and injured his girlfriend at the weekend in Manyang Ngok Payam, Tonj South County, Warrap State.
Malong Mangong Bol, according to the police, on Sunday went to the house where his girlfriend lived.
Upon arrival, he knocked at the door and when asked who was at the door knocking, he ran off.
2nd Lt. David Bol, police inspector in Tonj South County, said Jou Bang Kiir, 19, then followed the man into one of the isolated huts in the area.
When Malong realized that someone was following him, opened fire, shooting the girl in the thigh.
“When the girl showed up, Malong thought that someone had been following him with an intent to kill him. So, shot her in the thigh. But when he realized he had injured his girlfriend, he killed himself, ” Bol told Mayardit FM.
The lady is now nursing her wounds at a hospital in the area.
