
Three men in Aweil South County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State are nursing knife wounds at the Malek Alel Primary Health Care Center after a gang fight over a girl.
The incident occurred on Monday evening at 7:00 PM when two
rival groups, the Hongweekdit and Riang Mawel, clashed over a girl’s
engagement.
Paramount Chief of Ajak section, Ayom Akol Wedk, confirmed
that the fight left the three men with serious knife injuries.
“Two groups known as Hongweekdit and Riangmawel, each
associated with a particular girl, fought when a young man from one group
called a girl from the other group to engage with her, leading to knife
stabbings,” Ayom narrated.
The paramount chief called on the government to deploy joint
operations for night patrols to curb criminal activities in the area.
“If the government works with us, the community, then strong
police must be deployed to shut down all gambling and gang activities in the
area, and if the government stands with us, these gangs must be arrested and
taken where they belong,” Ayom stated.
Mr. Kuot Pel Pel, a health official, confirmed the incident
to Akol Yam FM, stating that the victims are receiving treatment at the
Malek-Alel Primary Health Care Center.
“The hospital has played its role in managing their wounds. They
are a bit better. We have discharged them to their homes, and they will be
coming to the facility for follow-up and continued medication,” said Kuot.
Both officials urged the community to advise their children to avoid negative activities and instead engage in more productive endeavors.
