In an amazing turn of events, a 20-year-old pupil gave birth to a baby girl while sitting her primary eight examination in Aweil South County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

The event transpired during her second examination session this morning; yet, Nyibol Akot Ater's resolve to pursue her education was evident.

While she was receiving medical care at Malek Alel County Hospital, she continued with her exam. Reports indicate that both mother and child are in good health.

In an interview with Akol Yam FM, Nyibol, who goes to Nyang Miir Primary School, expressed gratitude for the safe delivery of her baby and her confidence in completing her exams.

“Everything is about endurance. I studied throughout my pregnancy, and today I delivered. My exam paper was brought to me at the hospital, and I am confident I will continue with the rest of the exams,” she said.

Nyibol also encouraged her peers to remain committed to their education, proving that dedication can overcome life’s challenges.

For her part, Valentino Manok Adup, county education director, praised Nyibol’s resilience and encouraged girls to prioritize their education, regardless of marital or maternal status.

“We worked with exam monitors to ensure she could complete her exam at the hospital,” Manok said. “I also encourage girls to continue their studies, even if they are married.”

Manok emphasized the importance of girls' education and urged families to support their daughters in pursuing their studies, highlighting Nyibol’s determination as an inspiring example.
