The South Sudan Islamic Council has opened registration for Hajj 1447, setting the cost at $5,000 per pilgrim. The country has been allocated a quota of 1,360 pilgrims.
Speaking in Juba on Thursday, Sheikh Dr. Abdalla Barag,
Chair of the Hajj Affairs Office, said preparations are already underway in
coordination with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj.
“There was a conference of the Hajj exhibition a month ago,
and in this conference an agreement was signed with all the hajj offices in the
world. The agreement speaks about the conditions and early preparations of the
hajj. It talks about the arrangements of the Hajj. It talks about the
importance of the early arrangement of the hajj,” Barag said
Registration is open to all South Sudanese Muslims, whether
living in the country or abroad, as long as they hold a valid South Sudanese
passport.
The $5,000 fee covers flights, visa, food, accommodation in
Mina, Medina, and Mecca, and local transportation. Pilgrims can choose from different
service packages, including VIP options, based on their preferences.
Ustaz Hassan Rahamatullah, Executive Director of the Hajj
Affairs Office, emphasized flexibility.
“The pilgrims choose according to their ability, they choose
the services they want, and then there are shared services. All these services
are similar but within, there are differences, someone might wish for more
comfort. So, there are packages on the hajj Al-murah website, such as VIP and
Special packages,” he said
Registration runs from January 15 to February 22, 2026, at offices across South Sudan’s states and administrative areas.
