The newly appointed vice chancellor of the University Juba has offered to assign Prof. John Akec as the director of Mayardit Academy for Space Sciences.

Prof. Robert Mayom Kuoirot made the announcement during the handover of a report and master plan of the university.

“The transformation which we started has to continue and if you are ready to toil again with us, I would appreciate it if you could continue to lead Mayardit Academy for Space Sciences project as the director,” Prof. Mayom said.

For his part, Akec expressed his willingness to carry on with the work.

“I would like to assure you and your team of my unwavering support wherever I will be and especially on the campus I'm ready to fully participate in the establishment of some of our new institutions that are still being established,” Prof. Akec said.

The space project is part of Akec’s plot to standardize the public higher learning institution.

The project is intended to include facilities like business school, high technology, hotels, hospital, a gym, and sports center, staffing residence, student business area, supper market, conferences, hostels, science, and business park.

He took to his official Facebook page that he will do his best to get the project off the ground.

“I will support the push for standardization by using my connections, help in resource mobilization, proposal writing, assist in enhancement of innovation across our university,” Akec added.
