The Commissioner of Panyijar County in Unity State has reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the border peace resolutions signed in Rumbek in March 2023.

The conference, which brought together representatives from Warrap, Unity, and Lakes States, was aimed at ending border-related crimes such as cattle raiding and revenge attacks.

However, armed youth from these states continue to disrupt community peace.

The most recent incident occurred over the weekend, when suspected armed youth from Panyijar attacked Adior, killing one person and raiding six cattle, including a prestigious bull.

Majok Bol, the commissioner of Panyijar, acknowledged the incident and pledged to act against the criminals.

“We still have the hope of returning those cows back, but it depends on the security situation if the area has no insecurity, then we will start consulting with the local community to get those cows,” said Bol in an interview.

The commissioner also promised to begin tracing the raided cattle so they can be returned to their rightful owners in Adior.
