The Nyalath health facility in Aweil Center County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, has been officially designated as a center for malaria testing and treatment.
This move comes as a much-needed intervention following the
withdrawal of the African Relief Development Foundation, which had left the
facility without essential medications and severely limited healthcare access
for the local community.
Support is now being provided by ALIMA (The Alliance for
International Medical Action) in partnership with the state Ministry of Health.
According to Dr. Malong Diing, Director General in the Ministry, the assistance
is solely focused on malaria.
“It started in July and will end in November just to test
malaria and then treat it. So, if there are other people with other diseases
out of malaria, they should seek other health facilities for treatment,” Dr.
Diing told Akol Yam FM.
He emphasized the Ministry’s ongoing commitment, alongside
its partners, to protect community health and urged residents, especially
pregnant women and children to seek malaria services at the Nyalath facility.
The project, running from July through November, focuses
exclusively on malaria testing, treatment, and referrals during this critical
transmission season.
