The planned meeting between President Salva Kiir and First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar has been pushed again to Friday.
The meeting was to take place since Monday, March 6 but it was rescheduled to Thursday on the request of president and again.
“The meeting has been rescheduled to tomorrow based on the president’s request,” said Puok Baluang, press secretary of Dr. Riek
However, the press secretary in the office of the president reserved her comment on whether the meeting would take place or not but said her office would update the public anytime.
“It’s just a routine. Date can change; time can change. I cannot confirm or deny that [there will be meeting]. So, you guys will just wait for my official communication,” Said Lily Adhieu.
The meeting is expected to discuss the political crisis between the main parties over the removal of Angelina Teny as the minister of defense and Veteran Affairs, who is also the wife to Dr. Riek Machar.
Last week, President Kiir dismissed Angelina Teny and Interior Minister Mahmoud Solomon.
Kiir also swapped the security ministries of defense and Interior – a move SPLM-IO termed as unilateral and a violation of the revitalized peace agreement.
