Lakes parliament passes 2023/2024 fiscal year budget

The Lakes State Legislative Assembly has finally passed the 2023-2024 fiscal year budget, an official has announced.

The assembly first rejected deliberation of the budget in November due to its failure to reflect the 400 percent increment and personal income taxes.

This forced the committee tasked with the work to revise the budget before the next tabling.

The Minister of finance, Majok Anhiem, says the assembly has approved 25.6 billion South Sudanese Pounds as the budget for the fiscal year 2023/2024 last week.

“This big budget of the year 2023-2024 will covered all the Ministries and the whole operations of the state, including their commissions,” he told Mingkaman FM on Monday.

“And the sources will be from two ways: the first will be from the national Transfers and block transfer from juba and the second one will be from our locally generated revenues which goes to 205 Million south Sudanese Pounds.’’

He added that ministries of Education and Health took the lion share of the budget, with Education taking SSP 7.404 million, and health, 1.272 million SSP.
