The Office of the President has directed that all high-level appointments and removals under presidential prerogative be handled confidentially, ending public media announcements.

Signed by Minister of Presidential Affairs Africano Mande Gedima on January 8, 2026, the directive requires all decrees to be delivered directly to the relevant Speaker, Minister, or Governor, who will execute the changes internally. Access is limited to authorized personnel, and any public disclosure is considered a serious breach of protocol.

The order covers MPs, senior civil servants, ambassadors, state officials, and heads of commissions, institutions, and parastatals. Officials must submit a compliance report within 48 hours, and obstruction of a decree will be treated as a grave administrative offense.

The move aims to protect the dignity of the office, maintain administrative stability, and enhance professional decorum, effective immediately.
