President Salva Kiir has directed the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) to conduct a comprehensive audit of all party assets and investments, his office said on Wednesday.
The order follows a recent SPLM Secretariat visit to Luri
Payam, where they assessed the party’s assets and investment projects. It
covers SPLM holdings both inside and outside the country.
Kiir, who chairs the SPLM, issued the directive after
receiving a progress report from the party’s Secretariat covering activities,
strategic plans, and preparations for the forthcoming general elections.
He emphasized that a proper inventory and management of
party assets would allow members to fully benefit from the movement’s
investments. Kiir also underlined the need for strict enforcement of discipline
across all party structures, including members holding government positions.
Secretary General Akol Paul Kordit said the party is ready
for the elections and welcomed the recent stance of African leaders calling for
no further extension of South Sudan’s transitional period, stressing the need
to adhere to the timelines agreed in the roadmap.
