The family of a six-year-old girl who died in Aweil due to defilement received five million South Sudanese Pounds an equivalent of 11 thousand US dollars donations from President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday.
The young girl named Abuk Lual Lual was defiled and killed by one of the Sudanese traders earlier this month in Northern Bahr el Ghazal.
The cash was delivered to the family by Northern Bahr el Ghazal state police spokesperson captain Guot Guot Akol.
Guot says the cash was sent to him through a money-transferred company in Aweil after coordination from the Executive Director in the office of the president
The father of Late Abuk is Edward Lual Lual. He says the cash donated by President will help his family acquire land and run the court process.
Lual also commended the generosity of well-wishers who supported him and his partner Awek Yuot Yuot during this challenging time the family lost their loved daughter Abuk.
“My appreciation goes to President because he helped me a lot. What forced me to share a house with suspects because I don’t have land here in Aweil town.”
He says some of his relatives came from villages to attend the court session but find it difficult to accommodate them, and the money will help set up a place for the family.
The office of President is yet to comment on the donation.
Last week about two hundred youth protested in Aweil, calling for a speedy trial of the victim after Aweil Police arrested the trader.
The situation forced leader of Sudanese traders in Aweil Mr. Nureen Yousif to leave Northern Bahr El Ghazal state and surrendered to the Sudan embassy in Juba after youth have accused him of insulting them in a social media post he made over the defilement case.
