
President Salva Kiir has tasked the newly appointed government officials with the responsibility of putting the interests of the South Sudanese people at the forefront of their work during Tuesday’s swearing-in ceremony.
The appointments include Pieng Deng Kuol as Minister of East African Community Affairs, Denay Jock Chagor as Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism, Rizik Zachariah Hassan as Minister of Transport, James Koang Chuol as Deputy Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs, and Jacob Dollar Ruot as Governor of Upper Nile State.
President Kiir also administered the oath to Samuel Yanga
Mikaya, the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the South Sudan Civil
Aviation Authority and renewed the terms of Non-Executive Directors of the Bank
of South Sudan for two more years.
“The appointments are a call to duty and a commitment to the
well-being of the people, urging them to cooperate and work together as a
united government with purpose to strengthen and support the unity of national
army, promote peace and reconciliation among all communities,” Office of the
president stated in a statement.
He further appealed to the Chairperson of the Civil Aviation
Authority to focus on digital connectivity and upgrading aviation services in
line with international standards to boost the nation’s infrastructure.
Simon Kun Puoch, Third Deputy Chairman of the Sudan People’s
Liberation Movement (SPLM), also called on the appointees to honor their
constitutional duties with diligence and commitment to national development.
Minister Pieng Deng Kuol pledged to uphold his responsibilities and serve the people with dedication, while all officials vowed to strengthen governance by enforcing laws and regulations that ensure the government works effectively for its citizens.
