A U-18 football tournament is expected to kick off in Kapoeta on Thursday, the Kapoeta Football Association has announced.
The local football body says the tournament is aimed at bringing together youth in an attempt to promote peace and unity during the festive season.
So far, six teams have registered for the competition. The teams include Atlabara FC, Young Boys FC, Haitarawa FC , Malakia FC , Fly United FC, and Kachenga FC.
Sponsored by Organization for Peace and relief Development or OPRD, the winning team will get a trophy and a set of uniforms.
“We will have some balls from the association that will be awarded to all the teams,” said Faruk Lino Lokai, secretary general for the Kapoeta Football Association.
The tournament is also aimed at promoting football talent among boys and girls in the area.
