Kapoeta North County authorities in Eastern Equatoria State are urging parents to enroll all children in school this year.
Commissioner David Nayee said the county has held a series
of meetings with parents, teachers, and the Parent-Teacher Association to
prepare for the upcoming back-to-school campaign.
“We need to enroll a large number of children this coming
year, and so far we have conducted meetings in most of the payams. We encourage
the local people to send their children to school. If you take a child to
school, it is not a waste of resources to educate the child,” Nayee said.
The Commissioner added that while some parents may not yet
fully grasp the benefits of schooling, the county will continue efforts to
raise awareness.
Nayee also noted that if external partners do not provide
school feeding programs, parents must take responsibility for supporting their
children’s education.
“We will be prepared with alternative solutions to help
children continue their studies. If partners are unable to support, the
community must take responsibility for taking care of these children,” he stated.
The county authorities are committed to ensuring that every child in Kapoeta North has access to education this year.
