A Juba-based family has asked the public for assistance in locating a missing member.

Muki Johnson John is the Chief Executive Officer of Rescue Medical Center in the border town.

His family says Johnson vanished in Juba on Friday, October 18, 2024, and his last sighting was in a white Nissan Fuga with the registration number SSD 498BF.

That day, he left his house at Kuburi Aboba for a bank to withdraw money for his medical center.

“He went to the bank to follow up on the money his center had made through medical covers,” his relative Salah Ruphas told The Radio Community in a WhatsApp voice call on Thursday.

He said Johnson’s last telephone conversation occurred between him and his aunt at around 1:12 p.m. that day.

He stated that Johnson’s car has not been sighted as well.

"Anyone who knows Muki's whereabouts should report it to the relevant authorities," Ruphas stated on behalf of the family, emphasizing that the man has no grudges against anyone.

Commenting on the matter, the executive director of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization, who blames the disappearance on the government, condemned the act.

“This is an act of crime against humanity; it is a violation of human rights,” Edmund Yakani argued.

Yakani expressed concerns, stating that the practice of forcibly disappearing individuals in Juba is on the rise, and his organization has recorded over 10 disappearance and abduction cases this year so far.

He urged all leaders of security agencies to put energy and efforts into preventing further kidnappings of individuals in Juba.

"I would like to take this opportunity to appeal to our security agencies that, particularly in the case of Muki Johnson, who was kidnapped after leaving a bank, are causing many people in the country to fear entering banks," Yakani added.
