Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Thursday briefed Vice President James Wani Igga on the security situation in the state, governance priorities and intergovernmental coordination, officials said.
During a courtesy visit in Juba, Adil told Igga, who chairs
the Economic Cluster, that government forces had regained full control of
Panyume Payam in Morobo County following recent clashes with the Sudan People’s
Liberation Army In Opposition (SPLA IO).
The two leaders also discussed measures to harmonize
taxation and strengthen coordination between national and state authorities to
improve service delivery and administrative efficiency.
In his capacity as chairperson of the Sudan People’s
Liberation Movement SPLM in Central Equatoria, Adil further briefed Igga, who
also serves as the party’s first deputy chairperson, on efforts to reorganize
the SPLM state secretariat.
Adil said the party in Central Equatoria was preparing to mobilize
supporters ahead of anticipated national elections later this year.
Igga welcomed the update and underscored the importance of
sustained cooperation between state and national institutions to maintain
stability and advance economic governance, according to officials familiar with
the meeting.
