The prayers will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at noon, in Nyari Estate, Nairobi.
Gen. Garang Kuot Nyuol, spokesperson in the office of the chairman, expressed his eagerness for a strong turnout, emphasizing the significance of collective prayer during these trying times for the nation.
“Gen. Paul Malong Awan Anei is cordially inviting everyone who will not be busy on the date mentioned above to join him in prayers for our nation,” Kuot said in a statement issued on Friday.
The event promises to be a moment of reflection and hope, offering a space for the community to unite in their prayers for a brighter future for South Sudan.
It aims to bring together individuals from all walks of life to pray for the peace, stability, and prosperity of South Sudan.
It is believed that the prayer event will feature the current security situation in which the army engaged in clashes with SPLA-IO in Upper Nile State earlier this week.
On March 4, fighting erupted in Nassir County, leaving several people dead, including an air force pilot and the killing of an army commander days later.
This led to the detention of some SPLM/A-IO political and military officials suspected of fueling the conflict, causing panic among the citizens.
Gen. Malong
is a former chief of defense forces and a politician participating in the Tumaini Initiative, which
is currently on hold in Nairobi.
