After Sunday night’s road ambush in Aneet that killed the deputy Chief Administrator for Abyei, fighting is said to have broken out between armed groups from Abyei and Twic.
Twic County Commissioner Hon. Simon Aguek Chan reports that four individuals have been hurt and three people have died as a result of the violence.
He thinks that this is an attempt at retaliation for Brig General Noon Deng Nyok, the deputy chief administrator, dying.
He said that the Athony and Ayuok areas had been attacked by the armed Abyei men.
Furthermore, the Deputy Chief Administrator’s death, according to the Abyei Special Administrative Area, is the result of UNISFA’s failure to safeguard the Abyei Box.
