Today, Friday,
March 7, 2025, marked the official opening of the Madhol Field Hospital, a
cutting-edge medical institution located in Madhol Payam, Aweil East County,
Northern Bahr el Ghazal.
The new
hospital is a donation from the United Arab Emirates to the people of South
Sudan.
The hospital began operating in temporary structures in January, following the arrival of equipment from Dubai in December 2024, while construction of permanent facilities continued.

Speaking at
the opening ceremony, Governor Simon Ober Mawut stated that the hospital will
alleviate pressure on the Aweil Civil Hospital and benefit the Bahr el Ghazal
region.
“This
state-of-the-art medical facility could not have come at a better time, as the
people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State face numerous health challenges,” Mawut
said.
“Madhol Field
Hospital is here and operational. Today marks a historic day for the people of
Northern Bahr el Ghazal State and the wider Greater Bahr el Ghazal region.”
The opening
ceremony was attended by the deputy minister of Foreign Affairs and other
dignitaries from Dubai.
The fully
equipped hospital, stocked with medical equipment and medicines, will be
staffed by specialized doctors from the United Arab Emirates.
The project is being implemented by Burjeel Hospital Holdings, based in Abu Dhabi, and represents a gift from the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to the people of South Sudan.
