Criminals steal utensils, burn school building in Turalei

Arsonists burned down the teachers’ quarters at Saint Joseph Primary School in Twic County, Warrap state over the weekend.

The destruction of property has led to the loss of essential school documents, exams papers, copy of parent files, and 20,000 South Sudanese Pound, among other items.

According to Francis Adila, the head teacher of the school, the unknown arsonists took saucepans, tea flasks, and others from school kitchenware before setting the building on fire in Panyai village of Turalei Payam.

Brigadier General Marko Mawien Madut, the Police Inspector in the area said they are searching for the perpetrators.

“We are in search of the culprits in the community.”

He appealed to the public to approach the police with any information that may lead to their arrest.

“Security is in the hands of everyone – both the community and the government. We should not allow public asset to be spoilt in our watch. Let us protect them collectively to avoid further occurrences,” Brigadier General Mawien stated.
