A 9-year-old boy from Gogrial East County, Warrap State, has died after a cow pierced his stomach with its horn in Mabok village on Wednesday.
Police say the boy, identified as Kang Nyang Kang, was
injured in the morning while at home. His family rushed him to Luonyaker
Hospital, but he succumbed to severe stomach injuries before reaching medical
care.
Lieutenant Thiik Agoth Giir, Deputy Director of the Criminal
Department in Gogrial East County, said the incident highlights the dangers of
allowing young children to herd or interact with wild cattle.
“If you want to teach your child how to take care of the
cattle then teach him or her by the cattle which are not wild. You adult person
can take care of wild cows, but underage children are at risk to do that,” Giir
said.
"You must be vigilant about underage children to be far from
the wild cows. Cattle can’t be separated from people, and it cannot compensate
a person it injured, and it can’t be investigated why it killed a person.”
He urged parents to be vigilant and avoid sending children
to herd cattle to prevent similar tragedies.
