Doctors at Chukudum Hospital in Budi County, Eastern Equatoria State have agreed to deduct part of their monthly incentives to help the facility purchase essential medical supplies.

Hospital administrator Augustine Lokang Kaita said the decision was made by staff who felt compelled to act after the hospital ran short of critical items such as gloves and blood bags.

"You contribute according to what you are getting. This is what we agreed as staff, because we have challenges. That’s why we agreed to contribute something even if it’s small to supplement what the community is bringing,” Lokang explained.

Last month, the hospital appealed to both the local community and the diaspora for urgent support. The call raised $2,000, but the funds have not yet been used to purchase supplies. The administrator says the hospital still requires more assistance and continues to urge well-wishers to contribute.

Doctors say their contributions vary depending on individual capacity, but the collective effort is meant to keep the hospital running and ensure patients receive care despite limited resources.
