China has handed over more than 20 agricultural tools,
including six tractors, to the Azande Kingdom in Western Equatoria State,
strengthening local efforts to boost food security and agricultural
development.
The donation, provided by the Zhaotai Group and facilitated
through the Chinese Embassy in South Sudan, marks the second phase of China’s
agricultural support to the kingdom, following last year’s delivery of over
1,000 tools such as hoes and rakes.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Juba, Chinese
Ambassador Ma Qiang highlighted the broader significance of the support.
"These efforts demonstrate the responsibility and
commitment of Chinese enterprises, and once again show the practice of the
Chinese government and people in supporting South Sudanese people’s well-being
and advancing a community with a shared future for humanity," Qiang
explained.
The ambassador expressed optimism that the donated machinery
would significantly increase crop production.
"I believe these agricultural machines will play an
important role in increasing grain output and improving people’s lives. I look
forward to seeing corn, sorghum or wheat produced with these machines in the
market after the next harvest season,” Qiang expressed.
Atoroba Peni Rikito Gbudue, King of the Azande Kingdom,
thanked China for its continued assistance and highlighted its impact on local
communities.
"I just want to say thank you to the ambassador for all
the support we have received previously and for these agricultural tools, which
will help our people stand on our two feet and support ourselves," Atoroba
said.
The donation is expected to enhance large-scale farming in the state and contribute to national food supplies, aligning with President Salva Kiir’s call to prioritize agriculture as a foundation for food security and economic stability.
