Aweil teenager succumbs to eye injury
A 14-year-old boy who was injured while playing with a gun in Aweil West County has succumbed to the injury.

“The victim passed away on Sunday. This morning, we sent a police force to escort the body for burial,” said Arkangelo Guot, director of general administration at the police department.

Last week, Bol Akech Dhal was shot in the left eye by his playmate at Lolkou village on Friday.

He was then rushed to the MSF unit at the Aweil Civil Hospital.

A medical report submitted to police indicates that the bullet did hit the teenager’s skull.

The gun belongs to an SSPDF officer residing in the area.

The unnamed owner of the guns was away - on the mission when the incident happened, according to the authorities.

Director of general administration at the police, however, disclosed that a negligence case has been filed against the military officer and boy, who are now in police custody.

Guot appealed to the family of the deceased to remain calm to allow the law to take its course.

Guot urged the arms carriers to keep guns at the police or military stores instead of their houses to avoid such incident from happening.
