Authorities in Aweil South County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal County, say they have apprehended the man who reportedly killed his wife recently.
On Monday, Geng Deng, 43, allegedly killed Aluet Aneet, 35, after a quarrel over farm produce at their home in Aweil South, according to the county commissioner.
When Aluet feared for her life, she ran to the neighbor’s house. Geng went after her. He beat her into coma. Aluet reportedly later died while she was being rushed to a nearby health facility.
After realizing that the mother of 5 children had succumbed to internal injuries, Deng escaped. He was later caught while trying to flee to Aweil Center County.
The Commissioner of Aweil South County, Luka Thel, in an interview with Akol Yam FM via phone from Malek Alel condemned the incident.
Thel advised general public to seek peace ways of resolving family disputes to avoid loss of lives.
“If the woman doesn’t listen to you, involve someone else or go to the court and file for a divorce,” Thel said. “This is the solution. But killing a woman because she doesn’t listen to you is not logical completely.”
The incident brings to three the number of cases involving men killing their wives in the area in September and October.
