Kapoeta East County Commissioner in Eastern Equatoria state has assured residents that Narus town remains peaceful despite an attempted attack early on Wednesday.
Commissioner Stephen Lowusio said that in the early hours
around 4 AM., SPLA-IO forces allegedly launched an attack, but it was
immediately contained by authorities and no damage or casualties were reported.
“There was an attempted attack in Narus by some IO rebels,
so they came at around 4 AM, but we already heard the information. They shot
some RPGs, but nothing was damaged and no casualties occurred. We are telling
the people to just remain calm and do their business as usual, as we have
enough soldiers to handle it, so there is no need to worry,” Lowusio said.
Two weeks ago, SPLA-IO claimed responsibility for an attack
on SSPDF positions in Nadapal town, with no casualties reported.
