Lessons were suspended at Mabior Kot Nursery and Primary
School in Ajogo Payam, Gogrial East County, on Tuesday after a windstorm lifted
the roofs of four classrooms.
The administration has suspended all classes, with the
exception of primary eight, as candidates begin preparations for this academic
year's national exam.
Mayar Angelo Deng, the head teacher, asserted that the
recommendation for class suspension on the day of the incident resulted from
the constant wind and rain that interfered with learning.
He revealed that the learning institution registered more
than 1,500 learners this year.
Established in 2008, Mabior Kot Nursery and Primary School
is a community school.
"We asked all community members to figure out a way
forward on the matter," Mayar stated, "but they said they don't have
the resources to repair the roofing."
In order to assist with the restoration of the classroom
roofs, Mayar claimed to have reported the matter to the county education
authorities.
Lessons are scheduled to resume on Monday of the following
week, but as of yet, no feedback has been received.
A network issue prevented Mayardit FM station from getting
in touch with the Ministry of Education in Warrap State and the county
education officials to get their opinions on the matter.
