Woman in labor dies while on three hours walk to a health facility

A 35-year-old expectant mother has died while being carried to the hospital in Ayien Amuol Boma of Turalei Payam in Warrap state.

The woman was reportedly forced to walk for at least 3 hours to access medical care in Ayien Amuol due to a lack of health facility in Aprin village.

According to the Turalei Payam Administrator, the deceased suffered labor pains while at home for 2 consecutive days while awaiting transportation.

Baak Bol Baak the area also has no ambulance to carry critically ill patients.

He said the expectant mother was carried by relatives on their shoulders and sometimes made to walk for the 3 hours journey by foot.

She reportedly died with the unborn baby before reaching the hospital.

Bol urged the public to always seek medical attention on time – especially for expectant women.
