Unknown gunmen injure 2 soldiers in Gogrial East

Two South Sudan People’s Defense Forces soldiers have been reportedly injured in Gogrial East County of Warrap State.

According to Col Madut Anei, the Inspector of Police in Gogrial East County, the two soldiers were on a night patrol when the unknown gunmen attacked and shot at them.

On Monday this week, Mathiang Kuot Majok, 31, an SSPDF was also shot dead in Nyang Payam when unknown armed men attacked a military base in Amenthnhom.

Col Madut Anei says it is not clear why the unknown gunmen are attacking and killing soldiers in their military base.

“The soldiers went to patrol outside their unit in Nyang area unfortunately the gunmen ambushed them -the unknown gunmen escaped to the bush, and they have not been traced,” Anei told Mayardit 90.7 FM.

“But they ran towards Mayom County of Unity State,” Anei alleged.

He says the injured soldiers have been taken to Kuajok hospital for treatment.

Since the beginning of the year, several rampant attacks on fishermen, government soldiers in the area bordering Unity State have been reported.
