Two people were lynched in Kapoeta South at the weekend after the vehicle they were
traveling in got involved in a deadly road accident, an official has said.
On Sunday, a motorcycle
carrying four young girls reportedly collided with a Toyota Landcruiser along
the Kapoeta-Ngauro Road, about 15 kilometers away from Kapoeta town.
Three of the
passengers and the rider died on the spot, according to the executive director
of Kapoeta South County.
“Three girls
plus the rider of the motorbike died on the spot, and one passenger sustained
injuries and is now receiving treatment at a hospital,” Juma Justin told
Singaita FM on Monday.
As a result, the
driver of the SUV, with registration number SSD 019 BJ were “beaten to death by
members of the local community”, who were angered by the horrific scene.
Justin identified
two of the deceased teenagers as Nangohi Ichoma and Achuma Emmanuel.
The occupants
of the SUV were foreign nationals – a Ugandan and Kenyan – suspected to be
employees of the mobile telecom company, MTN.
