Two children abducted by suspected raiders in Kapoeta East

Two children have been reportedly abducted by suspected cattle raiders in Kapoeta East County, Eastern Equatoria state on Saturday.

Officials say several herds of cattle have also been stolen.

The children and 190 cows were taken from Kalopeit cattle camp.

According to the County Commissioner, the incident happened at around 3PM .

“The Kraal in Kapoeta East has been raided…they also abducted 2 children, herd of cattle and goats,” Abdallah Lokeno said.

He disclosed that the footmarks of the suspected raiders headed towards Ngauro in Budi County.

The Commissioner of Budi County, Akileo Mboya said he is yet to get an official report on the incident due to lack of telecommunication network in most areas.

“I am not aware of the incident. I only learnt it yesterday when the [Kapoeta East] Commissioner called me, [but] I have not verified that information,” he stated.

The two officials said an investigation will be launched to locate and retrieve the abducted children and stolen animals.

A peace meeting is being planned by the Nyakiriket consortium for communities from the two Counties.
