Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the death of one person in communal violence in Gogrial West County, Warrap State.
Between Wednesday and Thursday this week, fighting over land erupted between Awan Yien and Awan Rup communities in Awai-Nhom Boma. The two clans claim ownership of a piece of land where the MTN telecommunication booster is erected.
Police Inspector in Akon Payam said one person died and three others were wounded, including a woman who is said to be in a critical condition.
“During the fighting, police were deployed and Division 11 of the SSPDF also came to us. Now the tension has reduced, there is calm. We advise the youths to stop fighting and allow the law in this matter,” Colonel Adbhala Deng Mou stated.
Four houses were also burnt in the fighting.
