Six people were reportedly killed and three others injured in cattle-related violence at Akuac Wol Makuei in Twic County over the weekend.

In addition, more than 300 heads of cattle were driven off by the attackers from the neighboring Mayom County, Unity State, according to an official.

“Armed youth from Mayom attacked Twic, resulting in the fatalities,” John Mabior said, a claim Mayardit FM cannot independently verify.

Mabior named the victims as Ater Marial Malek, Bol Ayuel Bol, Abouc Longar Abouc, Nyuol Yor Nyuol, Madut Chol Deng, and Bol Lang Juk.

“I urge the community to protect their resources and avoid revenge attacks as both governments are working together for peace, he added.

There have been reports of similar attacks in the county for years now.

In February, armed youth from Mayom attacked Kuec Amuol in Twic County, resulting in the deaths of six individuals and the injuries of five others. Besides, they stole cattle.

Fortunately, the cattle were subsequently recovered and returned to the Twic County authorities.
