Truck kills Torit boy

A-15-year-old boy has died in a road accident caused by pothole in Torit County on Sunday.

This is according to the crime officer at the traffic police department in Eastern Equatoria State, Lt. General Adam Satiro.

He says the driver of the white lorry with a Ugandan registration number UAZ 962 P lost control of the vehicle after a tire hit the pothole.

“When the driver of the lorry was trying to reverse the vehicle, a tire enter a pothole and the driver loss control,” Lt. Gen Satiro told Singaita FM on Monday.

The vehicle then overturned, killing the boy identified as John Okolang.

“Unfortunately, the truck rolled on one of the two boys qho were trying to cross the road. The second boy escaped unhurt,” he added.

Satiri added that the 40-year-old driver, Jamal Abadal-kerim, will be arraigned in court soon.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Torit Municipal Council, Mustafa Albino, appealed to motorists to drive carefully.

” I am just appealing to all the drivers in the town to control their vehicles well when driving to avoid such incidents,” Albino said.
