Tonj Civil Hospital has registered an increase in cases of snake bite over the last three months.
Doctors say they have treated at least 33 cases between the month of May, June, and July.
According to the hospital’s Medical Director, the incidents are rampant because of long grasses alongside the road and the wet season.
Dr. Agany Monychol Agany told Mayardit FM that in July alone, they recorded 17 cases of snake bites.
“In the wet season, it is important for the community to clear long grasses and ensure that when they are walking at night, you carry some light to protect yourself from harmful things,” he advised.
Dr. Agany urged families to immediately report a victim of snake bite to the hospital for treatment.
