South Africa Deputy President in Juba for peace talks

South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile and his delegation arrive in Juba, South Sudan, on Wednesday for a two-day visit to hold consultations with the parties to the peace agreement.

The Deputy President and his delegation were received by South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Monday Semaya Kumba, and Amb. Mahlodi Muofhe of the South African High Commission in South Sudan.

According to statements by the governments of South Africa and South Sudan, Deputy President Mashatile will meet President Salva Kiir and other stakeholders during his two-day visit to advance the implementation of the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement, as well as development and stability in South Sudan.

Other officials present during the welcoming of the South African Deputy President included Director General Bilateral, Amb. Phillip Jade; South Sudan’s Ambassador to South Africa, Amb. Simon Doku; and Director for Africa, Amb. Kau Nar Maper.
