Screening processes of assigned reporters to J1 still ongoing

The press secretary in the Office of the President has said that there is still ongoing screening of assigned journalists to cover events at the presidential palace.

In April 2023, all media houses were requested to present names of two accredited journalists to the state house.

The journalists will be specialized in covering the activities in the office and other events that involve President Salva Kiir.

“I made a promise, and I called all the media houses to provide me with names of two journalists that will be attached to J1. The vetting process is still ongoing. It was delayed because I was away but now that I am back, I will pick it up,” said Lilly Adhieu.

Once the journalists are cleared to be attached to the presidential palace, they will be accredited by the Office of the President and will be the only ones to do coverage on president’s activities.

Since president Kiir got into power in 2005, he has never been interviewed exclusively by any South Sudanese journalist.
