A journalist working for Radio Rumbek 98 FM died in a road accident at the weekend, authorities in Lakes State have said.

On Saturday, Marial Matira Anyuon fell off his motorbike at Manga Malou village. Police say the 38-year-old man sustained a neck injury in the accident.

He was later rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to “internal bleeding”.

“He died there due to neck injury and the cause of accident was over speeding,” Maj. Elijah Mabor, police spokesperson, told Mingkaman FM via telephone on Monday.

When contacted, the Chief Editor of Rumbek 98 FM, Mayak Majak, confirmed the incident, but declined to provide more details on the deceased journalist.
