There has been an increase in road banditry in Leer County in Unity State, according to police.
On Tuesday, an attack on motorcycle taxis carrying food left one rider dead in the Padea area.
According to the director of police there, armed robbers waylay those who carry food, cash, and smartphones.
"Four motorbikes have been ambushed and robbed of valuables so far. The robbers kill people and steal valuables like phones and money," Lt. Col. Kony Chang Kuolang told Leer FM on Wednesday.
He announced that a police unit would be dispatched to the hotspots to apprehend the criminals.
