‘Revive Local Council at Counties,’ Warrap governor instructs

The new governor of Warrap State has directed all commissioners in the counties and municipal council to re-establish local councilors.

According to him, the local council (LC) will comprise 31 members in each location.

Kuol Muor Muor says that councilors help in maintaining security, fostering peace, plan and guide the county authority in providing services to the people.

To achieve this, Governor Kuol appealed to the state legislative assembly of Warrap to draft local laws and policies.

“Councilors are responsible for holding county commissioners accountable for the programs and leadership intended. So, I want the Speaker of the Assembly to work closely with commissioners to revive the councilors office with functioning objectives in each county,” the governor instructed.

Kuol says he is willing to pay the councilors if they are re-established.

‘Money is not a problem and if the issue is with money to pay them, then I will be responsible for that because they are in the budget of the country,” he noted.

He adds that the councilors will work hand in hand with the local communities especially the youth, women, elders, and chiefs to maintain better security and peace.

“Security is everyone’s responsibility-not only for those in the government,” he added.
