Random garbage disposal will lead to arrest -Kapoeta town Mayor

The Mayor of Kapoeta Municipal Council is warning the public against the unnecessary dumping of garbage along the Torit-Kapoeta-Narus highway.

Lokuda Elia Lonyia said anyone found littering will be arrested and fined.

“There is a site along Naknak road that is a place for waste management where we dispose the garbage as a municipal council and is being managed by the municipality…not Narus road or even along Torit road before you reach Singaita river,” he said.

He cautioned against the disorganized dumping of animal remains such as bones, including polythene bags, bottles, and other plastic materials which he says are harmful to the environment and human life.

“We call upon the citizen of this great town to observe general cleanness because we are now in the rainy season, and we have to observe unruly citizen who go and litre this road leading out of the town,” Lokuda stressed.

Lokuda further urged the residents of the town to consider the sanitation and hygiene of their areas unnecessary garbage disposal “endangers the life our own people; children…do not know the consequences of this waste, they are not safe.”
