Raging floods destroy livelihood in Lafon

Nearly two hundred families have been affected by floods in Lafon County of Eastern Equatoria state.

The flooding is caused by continuous heavy downpours in the area.

Augustine Ujwok, Lafon County paramount chief said the most affected areas are the low lands in Maiguna, Morgilong and Nakurume villages.

He stated that livelihoods have been uprooted.

“People are suffering because until now there is flooding, crops have been destroyed,” chief Ujwok said.

He added that the affected residents are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.

“They are going to suffer during the dry season because their crops have destroyed. They need to be provided with food and also medication.”
