President Kiir left for Dubai to attend World Expro 2020

South Sudan President H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit has left the country on Friday to participate in Dubai Expo 2020. Presidential spokesperson Ateny Wek Ateny says Kiir is to take part in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) business summit and will invites investors to explore business opportunities in South Sudan.

Mr. Ateny said the delegation is also expecting to hold bilateral talks with the leaders of the UAE during the three days visited to Dubai. Expo 2020 is the Universal Exhibition held in the United Arab Emirates, the first to be held in an Arab country.

The leaders are expected to reflect the necessity of financial capital as a resource to support growth and partnerships as a primary driver of innovation and employment during the Expro 2020.

Ateny says the event would have happened in 2020 but was delayed due to COVID-19. South Sudan is expected to present its products on 19th and 20 February 2022.

“The president will sell out the investment opportunities that are existing in South Sudan which United Arab Emirates in particular will be invited to invest in South Sudan,” Ateny said.

He said that the visited is also an opportunity for South Sudan to meet with other economic organizations leaders to explore the business opportunities.

President Kiir is accompanied by five national ministers and other senior government officials among them Presidential Advisor on national Security Affairs Hon. Tut Gatluak Manime.
