While swearing in the new Governor of Warrap State, Gen. Magok Magok Deng, and Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area, Charles Abyei Jok, in Juba on Thursday, President Salva Kiir Mayardit called for an end to the persistent inter-communal conflicts in Warrap State and Abyei Administrative Area.

The head of state made an appeal to the community leaders residing in Juba to refrain from instigating violence back in their home areas, urging the new leaders to work in tandem to restore and promote the rule of law and peaceful co-existence among the communities.

General Paul Nang Majok, the Chief of Defence Forces, described the conflict in Warrap as a pandemic to the military and announced that the army is ready to intervene by disarming errant youths involved in the unrest. This, he said, is aimed at restoring peace.

Both Governor Magok Magok and Administrator Charles Abyei pledged their readiness to go home and reinforced the call for a collective effort to ensure a more peaceful society in areas under their supervision.
