Police hold Aweil East man for ‘slitting’ father’s throat

A young man in Aweil East County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, is being held for allegedly killing his father.

The 29-year-old unnamed man “slit” Aguer Bol Achien’s throat in Gueng Kou Payam on Sunday, according to the payam administrator.

The body of the 60-year-old man was found in the nearby bush that morning, with throat slit wound.

“There are three reasons we feel he is the one who killed his father: One, he fled the house very early in the morning,” Ayok Longar Ayok told Akol Yam FM.

“Two, there was a mark on the ground which showed he dragged the deceased to the near bush. And three, when he was apprehended, he was found wearing one pair of his father’s shoes.”

Longar disclosed that the motive behind the incident is not clear, saying the suspect refused to talk after he was apprehended.

He, however, said there was a misunderstanding between the deceased and the suspect over mismanagement of cows.

The deceased had previously accused his son of selling cows without his consent in the past.

He added that the unnamed suspect is being held at Aweil Central police.
