Plane missed runway and crashes into bush in Bor

A single engine aircraft overshot the runway and crashed into the bush in Bor airport Jonglei State on Wednesday afternoon.  It is not clear if the plane had mechanical break malfunction to slow it down after touching the ground.

Official says the plane was carrying 12 passengers and 2 crews member from Uror to Juba via Bor airport. The incident happened at 12 pm on Wednesday in Jonglei.

Kuot John is the director of Bor airport in Jongeli state. He says the caused of the crashed was tyre problem which bursted during landing forcing the plane to veered off course and runway to the bush.

“Well, the major issue that cause the plane crash is said to be the tyre that got burst leaving it to step off the runway and hit the tree”.

He said all the 12 passengers and crews that were on board were safe. He declined provide details of the company that owned the aircraft, but say it is a commercial plane and is now been grounded at Bor airport.

The picture of plane wreckage shared on social media show minor damages on the propeller plate, wings and front landing gear has collapsed, one window open and be neath cabin’s luggages door is also damage.  Eyewitness says the plane missed the run way and run to the bush.

Early this month, an cargo Antonov plane with registered tile number SP-402 crashed in Agok airstrip with four crew members onboard survived.
